I only have my original Chief Cherokee head, hands, inner arm and lower leg springs, and a couple of accessories. I'd like to rebuild him. Would it be better to:
A) Acquire a JWA complete Chief and switch out head/hands if necessary B) Acquire a Geronimo body and work to slowly piece it out
I have no interest in re-acquiring the Chief again in the original caramel. I have had both the late 1960s version body (complete in the box) and the later early 1970s body, and both have crumbled. I try to stay away from the vintage caramel figures, so no more Jay/Jamie/Johnny West (all have crumbled or broken and some point) or Chief Cherokee. That's also why I have never acquired the original Odin the Viking. I have a re-issue cardinal body Odin instead.
Thoughts?

I'd use the Geronimo body.

A JWA body would be more authentic. But then Geronimos are a dime a dozen.

Thanks for the feedback! Others?
BTW, does anyone know if there are instances of the JWA Chief Cherokee body (light tan, right?) crumbling? Would help my decision, of course!
As far as I know, I have never heard/seen instances of crumbling of any of the following vintage figures: Custer, Erik the Viking, Capt. Maddox (and of course Zeb Zachary), Geronimo (either off white or orange), Sheriff Garrett. Sam Cobra seems to have the stress crack problem in the elbow area….
