Do you all remember the Marx "carry-all" playsets? I remember Ft. Apache and also the Medieval Knights. Were there others?
I had a Ft. Apache from the early 1970s. It was the 2nd edition with the inside buildings affixed to the interior wall made out of tin litho. I think the first issue sets had the affixed buildings made out of formed plastic. My set came with orange Indians, a brown indian horse, bluish-gray 7th cavalry foot soldiers and 4-5 Marx cavalry horses in brown and black, and all the hard plastic accessories in light gray and dark brown. Alas, the set is long-gone, but I did buy replacement red Indians and metallic blue 7th cavalry troopers a few years back from Hobby Bunker…just to relive a little childhood. I remember the small metal rods that held the swinging doors on each end of the playset would fall out on many occasions and finally get lost… bummer.

I don't know if there were others by Marx, but I had a Fort Cheyenne in a vinyl case by Ideal Toys. The quality left a lot to be desired as did the playability, so it went to the trash rather quickly, but the soldiers & Indians were kind of cool. I still have most of them.

Thanks, yes I remember the Cap Kennedy carry-all; in fact, I think it may have been re-issued. So, for those named:
1. Fort Apache 2. Cape Kennedy 3. Action Knights 4. Boot Camp
Any others? eBay has at least one example of all of the above available right now.

A Johnny Apollo Moon Launch carry-all was mentioned in the Marx Toy Museum: Volume 1 DVD and a second carry-all commercial from 1969. I have never actually seen a carry-all set labeled "Johnny Apollo Moon Launch", but what is shown in the commercial is stock footage of the Cape Kennedy carry-all from the first commercial, shown in an earlier post. Also, at the Marx Toy Mueseum, there is a prototype for an Alamo carry-all, but I don't believe that it was ever released.

Interesting to hear about the proposed Alamo carry-all. If one exists, I have never seen it.
