I still have my Marx Geronimo FAF figure and accessories from my childhood. Unfortunately, about the age of 8, I took some colored flair brand marker pens to color Geronimo's front chest necklaces and adornments. They have faded over time but are still there. Any way to get this off the figure to return it to the light gray it used to be? I know that Cotswold Collectibles used to sell a cream-like product that you could leave on figures to "bleach" out markers, but that is no longer available.
Any ideas?

I did it to the stripes on Capt Maddox's pants. I've tried everything I can think of but it's still visible.

I just saw a video on YouTube showing a demonstration in removing Sharpie "permanent" black marker from plastic. The video showed a person marking up a piece of hard plastic with a sharpie, then going over the sharpie with a dark colored Expo marker. When he applied the Expo marker over the sharpie, both just wiped off cleanly! Not sure if this would work on a vintage Johnny West Geronimo in which the red flair marker has been on it for 35+ years….
Thoughts, and any more ideas? Surely on a board of this size and as many users with as many cool collections as we have, someone has a good idea regarding this...

Years ago I was told oven cleaner rubbed on with a rag works but have never tried it and don't know what final results would be. The guy was using it to clean old paint off of plastic model cars.

Hmm, may need to give that a try. I have tried hairspray, too, with no effect….

I saw a forum on how to remove yellowing from hard plastic white toys by using Hydrogen Peroxide and Oxy wash, then setting the toy out in the sun for a few hours… wonder if this would work?

I have used a light bleach solution, 5%, to soak the white Marx astronauts play set figures and then went over with a toothbrush with pretty good results. They are solid unlike our 12inch friends!

Oven cleaner works great on models & other hard plastic for paint removal & does not harm the surface whatsoever, but I've never tried it on marker. I don't use a rag, just spray them down, wait a few minutes until the paint bubbles & rinse with a hose sprayer. It usually takes more than one application. You have to use the Easy Off brand though...the cheap stuff doesn't work very well at all. I've also never tried it on rubber type surfaces, so I can't say how that would react. Terry
