I recently purchased a figure on eBay. It was described as "in nice condition with no cracks, chews or bite marks. See photos."
When it arrived, I removed an article of clothing which revealed a nail-size hole between his shoulder blades. (This was not identified in the text or photos of the eBay listing.) Also, there was discolouration/fading in areas and not all the accessories were what originally came with this figure (contrary to what was stated in the auction).
I contacted the SELLER, very courteously, to let him know that I was happy with some of what I received, but was disappointed by a couple of things. I presumed it was an unintentional oversight on his part and was happy to give him the benefit of the doubt. He had a 100% feedback score.
His response: If I would have noticed anything wrong with the figure, I would have included it in the description . . . If you had any questions or concerns these could have been addressed before you bought the item.
Bottom Line: The "flaws/damage" are easily seen with the naked eye in any typical household lighting. If one can see that there are no cracks, bites and chews then one could not have missed the hole in the figure's back - if one had removed the clothing to check. I gave him plenty of time and opportunity to make good.
However, this SELLER decided not to do the honourable thing but, instead, shifted his responsibility (i.e. accurate descriptions) to the BUYER (i.e. you should have asked). He, essentially, took the position that it was his word against mine.
I will not name this SELLER publicly in this forum. On the face of it, he seemed to have been an "Honest Joe" with which to deal, given his eBay feedback profile. If you are concerned about purchasing from this SELLER, please contact me privately.
