I looked and I either forgot where I posted it or I just didn't post it at all BUT...
We had our first grandchildren, identical twin boys, on Aug. 27, 2012. Our daughter was able to deliver both without a C-section and they stayed in the NICU at Mercy Hospital-Springfield for exactly 4 weeks. AND, yesterday, our granddaughter was born! Ironically, my wife's niece ALSO delivered yesterday, a little boy and I know that these 2 babies were born within a half-hour of each other! In between the twins and these "twins" that are actually 2nd cousins, another one of my wife's nieces delivered a little girl, so we've added 5 babies in just under 2 months!
My nephew pointed out that we only have to remember 3 dates for the 5 babies. The twins are first, then a different niece had a little girl, and now these 2 on Oct. 23.

My wife says she will be glad to take 4 or 5 off your hands. They are precious.

Thanks, everyone. It was pretty funny, our daughter announced her pregnancy on Super Bowl Sunday and our son had just found out about his but they weren't ready to announce. Then, the first part of March our daughter found out that it was twins and told us, her brother, etc. Our son's response was, "You've got to be kidding." At the time we thought he was just surprised because twins don't run in our family but in reality he was thinking, "Great, she one-upped me AGAIN!"
Looks like we've got Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and me... Stinky Pete!

Not sure if this is any consolation to your son . . . or of any help for settling the "family feud" . . . Are the twins identical? Or fraternal? Identical twins do NOT run in the family, per se. This wondrous event happens by chance and , for lack of a better expression, is a "freak of nature." ;D Fraternal twins, on the other hand, do 'run in the family.' It is the woman's ability (?) to drop more than one egg in her cycle . . . thus allowing multiple fertilizations within one pregnancy. Family history patterns predispose a woman's likelihood for this to occur. Bottom Line: Without the aid of fertility drugs, both kinds of twins happen because of forces beyond our control. So, in reality, no one can really take credit for "one-upping" anyone else.(Now your son can sleep at night. Oops, scratch that. He has an infant in the house!!!!)

Yes, JW, that's exactly what we have learned. The boys are identical. We also learned to worry about Twin to Twin Transfer Syndrome... but the boys never experienced that, either. They came 7 weeks early but only spent 4 weeks in the NICU. The little girl, however, was born last Tuesday and went home on Thursday, so... no sleep for my son, as you said!

I am not familiar with TRANSFER syndrome. (However, I have heard of Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome. Are these the same conditions?) Regardless, nice to know the little cowpokes are doing fine.

Yep, Transfusion is the proper term. Thank the Lord that we didn't learn any more about it than we did!

Yee Ha! Here I am on the New Grandparent page again with great news! I am a Grandpa again!(1 week earlier than expected) As you might recall, I became a grandparent for the first time back in July. Well as promised to me (By my son and his wife) Jude Hunter was born yesterday 11/24 at 4:45pm! He weighed in at 8 1/2 lbs. and is 21 inches long! Lots of hair and BIG HANDS! His hands are every bit as big as his cousin Alanna, who was born 3 months ago! (she is doing great by the way) Mom is doing good and all are happy and healthy. We are truly blessed! I hope every ones holiday season is filled with joy and love. RRK
