Ok, Ok - I give up! ;-) I know I've been conspicuous by my absence.... Life things (nothing bad just time consuming!) So, YES I want to run a Customizing Contest... But I need your help. First off the contest will be virtual only... ie no need to have stuff at Wheeling. But, I want to change the Entry Categories... previously we had stuff like single figure, and multiple figure / diorama, etc in At Show and Virtual. Now that it will only be virtual I want to have 3 categories of entries... I just don't know what three and how to describe them.... Some thoughts I had: 1. Western 2. Medieval 3. Soldiers and Spys OR 1. Modern (1900-2012) 2. Victorian (1700-1899) 3. Ancient (pre 1700) OR 1. Reality 2. Fantasy 3. ? OR 1. Fiction 2. Non-Fiction 3. Sci-FI So, you see, I need some help... What other category suggestions do you have??? Need a list of 3 covering all the possible entries..... Thanks and it's good to be back.... ;-) Scott

ONE vote for: 1. Western 2. Medieval 3. Soldiers and Spys THEMES as opposed to "time periods" is the simpler way to go, I think.

Hey My Friend Great To see ya Here abouts!
Definitley Support Virtual Only Even Donna said we would not have to Drag these to wheeling & have the Pre show Crush of Set Up, Of course I iwll Miss the items in Person.
By The way Fantatstic Job for all of your Past efforts in all of the Contests Thanx so Much again!
My Vote Would be More Basic Not limiting to Gendra Or Time Period. simply Following your Previous path with perhaps one addition.
Categories
1) Single Fiqure Item ( Human , Animal Or Other )
2) Set more than 1 as mentioned before Rider & Horse, 2 animals, 2 fiqures or more etc etc.
3) Diorama Much more than that A whole Town , A Fleet of Tanks, etc etc etc (Perhaps ther may be a Blur somewhere along the Line Which May Need Clarification Maybe By Creator themselves).
In The Last Contest We entered our Paul Newman "butch Cassidy" "Raindrops" as a Set when in Fact It was Probably more of a Fiqure.
Only myself to Blame because I had many entries.
So one Suggestion May Be allowing More than 1 Entrie per Category Of Course then You Canibalizing your own Items Votes. Competing against your self.
The Problem with that is Not all of Have the time or resources to Make Multiple entries.
Thanx again I Hope this Helps
Dave & Donna

Scott, thanks again for your many hours spent on this contest!! I agree with Dave on these basic categories....with suggestions on vehicles. 1) Single Fiqure Item ( Human , Animal Or Other ) vehicles judged - not counted as figure 2) Set more than 1 as mentioned before Rider & Horse, 2 animals, 2 fiqures or more etc etc. vehicles judged - not counted as figure 3) Diorama Much more than that A whole Town , A Fleet of Tanks, etc etc etc (Perhaps ther may be a Blur somewhere along the Line Which May Need Clarification Maybe By Creator themselves). vehicles judged - not counted as figure How about Diorama category set at more than 4 figures, animals, etc? I like Dave's idea also. That would cover all customizing bases. Hey Nance, I was counting weekends too, which is why I thought I'd better bring it up. My idea will be quite involved, so I need to get going like, yesterday. Terry

I have no clue what is about to happen, but I think I am going to enjoy seeing the outcome. After I learn the ropes, maybe I can participate next year.

I agree with Dave, but maybe make it more basic by limiting number of figures/vehicles:
1 - Single - one figure (human or animal)
2 - Duo - 2 figures no more (ex. General Lee & a his horse, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, Steve McQueen & his motorcycle)
3 - Group - more than 2 figures, includes dioramas

Starting to get close to making an announcement. Category definition still a little rough... How about this. 3 Categories with 1st-3rd place prizes in each: ( A major element is defined as any figure, animal or vehicle) Single: Any entry with only one major element. Duet: Any entry with only two major elements. Group: Any entry with more than two major elements.
Diorama elements like buildings, scenery, do not count as a major element. If you have a figure and beside it is a blown up jeep from WWII that would be a Duet entry. If there is a german shepard rummaging through the garbage next to the jeep then that would be 3 major elements and count as a Group entry....
Make sense??? Scott

Another example: A Wagon: Single entry... Wagon with driver: Duet entry Wagon with driver and one or more horses: Group entry.
