I'm interested in getting some of the repro Johnny West seen here: www.magicmarxie.com/usmarshaljohnny.htmAnyone have any in hand pictures? Is the box reproduction in any way, or is it new art? Sean

Go to the Home Page for the site you linked above. Plenty of pages and photos to see there.
Also, the owners of that site are excellent at responding to e-mails for any inquiries you may have. (I bought two reproductions and four new figures, as well as some accessories. I am thoroughly pleased with the similar detail and design which are comparable to the original '60s series.)

Hi Sean,
Terri Coop here. As for the box, it is new art and photography done in a style similar to, but not exactly like, the original BOTW boxes. Each one is hand-crafted in my studio. I've had folks say they like them better than my mass market boxes.
Also, "repro" is not the right word. I consider my figures to be re-engineered. My company owns the trademarks to Johnny West and I'm reintroducing classic figures as I can. CXR has Johnny, Jed, Bill Buck, and Garrett from the classic line and has added Billy Vine, Jesse James, Chuck Wheeler, and Levi Nolan to the new line.
I hope I answered a question or two. If not, post them and I will answer.
Thanks and welcome to the CXR!
Terri

Terri,
I have been to the main website and have seen the boxed figure section. I do not see the Johnny West or Garrett ones listed. Probably just not looking in the right section.
Also do you have a time table for when the figures listed as not available will be available again?
Thanks

Yeah I've seen the website pics, just wondered how the final product compared to those images. So Terri- these are made pretty much exactly like the old Johnny West figures? Are the same molds being used? And the only "repro" Marx figures you offer are Johnny, Jed, Bill Buck, and Garrett? While not in the JW line, I've also seen the paratrooper figure, etc, that's repro, correct? (I like repro items, have all the GI Joe and Action Man repros, for example). I'm not that familiar with JW, my older brother had some as a kid and I inherited his old stuff when he got older, but they are long gone now. Now, I have a few Marx Knights (and some repro Marx Knights, which aren't the best quality) but that's about it as far as anything Marx related. But I always liked Johnny West and wanted to get a few figures, even new "repros". Sean

Sean:
Email me at circlexranch@sbcglobal.net regarding the out of stock figures, there is a story behind that. The website situation is complicated.
The old Marx molds are shot, they are worn out. That is one of the reasons the 2001 knights and vikings are of such poor quality. The pieces no longer fit together smoothly and have to be forced into place, creating stresses in the plastic.
The figures on my website (except for those marked reissue) are from newly engineered molds, so are the accessories.
The paratroopers are a funny story. The person who bought a bunch of the Marx molds at the bankruptcy auction back in the 1980s got an order for the black and tan Stonys in the mid-1990s.
This person who owned the molds didn't really know much about Marx figures and shot the All-American Fighter heads/hands to go with the bodies. The customer was appalled and refused the order. These figures sat in the warehouse for about 10 years until Noah showed some interest in them and bought a bunch of them. The quality is okay and they are an interesting little tidepool in Marx history.

As an owner of the new CXR Marx Johnny West, Jed Gibson, Jesse James, and Bill Buck, I must vouch that these are fantastic! Terri and Noah have done such a great job bringing back Johnny West to us! The figures are the same weight and feel of the originals, and the accessories are very high quality; the soft accessories feel like the originals and "behave" like the originals, as far as conforming to the figures, etc., and the hard plastic accessories have to be seen to be believed. Although with the new Johnny you won't get the hard plastic frying pan, coffee cup, coffee pot, branding irons, or strong box, you will get extra hard plastic weapons such as a double-barreled shot gun, pepper pistol, extra pistol, etc.
Buy one or more; you'll be so glad you did.

Hey Sean, et al. I'll jump on the praise bandwagon too! The CXR figures are wonderful! I was going to start my old rant of terminology but I will limit to the use of "reproduction". These are not repros. Aside from the fact that they are not made from original molds (thank goodness), the leg and arm sculpt is not the same as the vintage or year 2000 real Repro's. You might notice when you get them (which I highly recommend - I have them all) that they are slightly (.02%) smaller than vintage. eg a vintage neck may not fit into these new figure torso's and the new heads may be a little loose in a vintage torso. So please don't try to resurrect a vintage figure with pieces and parts from these new ones. All the vintage accessories fit just fine on the new.
As far as how they compare to the pics on the website... well, those pics are of the new figures not some prototype. When you get them in your hands you will be amazed at the solid, well made feeling they give. Hold one of the 2000 repros next to these and there is no comparison - you'll go new every time!
Thanks Noah and Terri - gosh I seem to say that a lot ;-) Scott

Doubt if this is necessary but I love to talk! I held off on buying any new figures for years as I thought the quality would not be equal to the originals. I received a Levi Nolan figure in the Ranch Exchange in 2008 and have since purchased the remainder of the boxed figures from Noah and Terri. They are excellent and I look forward with much anticipation for new releases. You can not go wrong by gettting any of these figures.

. . . that they are slightly (.02%) smaller than vintage . . .
Same holds true for the new accessories on the Vintage Series figures.
The clothes can be a little snug and the chaps a bit short in the leg . . . but - with a little care - these will fit without breaking/tearing. Hint: Soak in HOT (not boiling) water to make the articles more pliable.
A very fine way to "dress up" an otherwise "naked" doll! ;D
P.S. The same "hot water" trick will make those pesky wrinkles fall right out of the vinyl covered wagon canopy. Soak, then lie flat on a towel to dry.

My Jesse james figure was delivered Saturday. I can't stop looking at it.
This was my first CXR figure and I can;t say enough good things about the quality and design of these figures.
The experience of opening that box lid and seeing all the gear in there was fantasticly nastalgic!
If there is anyone on the fence about buying one or more CXR figures, I would advise you to go ahead and pull the trigger. You won't be sorry. I have also bought a couple batches of loose gear from them and it is top notch stuff as well.
Regards, Canis

Congrats to caniswalensis on becoming a rancher. I am way behind right now, only in the 60s but should be in the 70s by the end of the night. In other news I am planning on getting the union soldier figures. That one looks like it comes with a ton of accessories.

Okay, I have Jesse James, Renegade Billy Vine and Riverboat Gambler Levi Nolan. I am trying to get the vintage Jed Gibson and Bill Buck before buying the new ones.
So what excatly is the deal with all of the unavailable figures? Does it just say that on the site, and if I email Terri they are avalaible? Lol I am really lost. I know there are alot of figures on the site I would love to add to mu collection. Especially the "Wanted" series, General Odinson and Swfit Eagle.
