My dad and I made a Mt. Rushmore-like custom that we brought to the Wheeling convention. We plan to use it on our Marx themed HO scale train set.
Step 1: We started with castings of the heads.
Step 2: We then created a foam base which we then placed the heads in and built around with both real and plastic rocks.
Step 3: We put caulk and puddy around the heads and used puddy to smooth out Johnny's shirt.
Step 4: We then glued kitty liter to the front in order to make it look like stone chips.
Step 5: We sprayed the whole thing down with plastic paint primer (a light coat does not eat the foam like other spray paint).
Step 6: We sprayed everything down with a gray primer.
Step 7: We then brushed on a dark water-based wash.
Step 8: We then dry-brushed highlights with a water-based gray paint.
Finally: We added the trees.
I have put links to the pictures below to show the stages.

P.S. My dad wanted to let Tom Heaton know that our selection method for the heads was because we liked them.
