Being a long-time GI Joe Collector, I was wondering if anyone knows of any current plans of Hasbro to re-issue or remake any more of the 12" classic figures? I started collecting Joes at age 2 with my first GI Joe; the dress marine acquired from box tops of Post Cereal, and at one time, I had over 50 vintage/new Joes in the 1990s, but have thinned out my collection to about 14 Joes. I still have four from my childhood.
I really enjoyed the Masterpiece line and later the 40th anniversary line, but as this year is the 50th Anniversary of GI Joe, and the International Show this year is in Dallas (!), I was wondering if Hasbro will re-introduce some of the 12" line to celebrate the 50th Anniversary?

From what I've heard through other collectors, Hasbro is barely even acknowledging the 50th & has no plans to produce any commemorative figures.

That's such a shame, especially since Joe really put Hasbro on the map and was their first bona fide action figure (Moveable Action Man).
Figures, though, as most companies think they know what collectors want instead of listening to collector's wants. Glad CXR is not like that! Terri's customer service is awesome.

The GI Joe club is releasing a Man of Action figure with T Shirt that has a logo based on the 3 and 3/4" joes. In the meantime we will be gathering pitchforks and torches. We do need some help with the tar and feathers.

Too funny! The GI Joe Club does issue some nice pieces, and those tend to increase in value over the years (almost proportionally to the original Joes). Just do an eBay search for GI Joe Club and see the high prices, especially on the repro 12" talking Joes….

I'm not sure if the club will be around much longer either. They've been having a blowout sale on all the 12" merchandise & seem to be focusing more on 3 3/4.

I attending the 50th Anniversary celebration/Internation GI Joe Show at the Dallas Hyatt (Reunion Tower) earlier this month, and the show was pretty good. Decent sized dealer area. As per the International GI Joe Show several years ago in San Antonio, lots of 12" "junk" from dealers; basically bins and bins of unsorted Classic Collection and Hall of Fame Collection bodies, heads, clothes, accessories, etc. The vintage stuff has really increased in price in the 15+ years since I've been really collecting. Figures that used to sell for $100 or so are at the $150 level (or more). A few dealers had good deals on the 40th Anniversary sets, most dealers had astronomical prices and were not moving much inventory. The dealer that got our business had a 1/2 price sale on all vintage Star Wars figures, which really interested my two sons. In fact, we left with only Star Wars stuff and no Joe stuff at all. Hasbro was no where to be found, and only 1 dealer was carrying the Cotswold Collectibles Elite Brigade line of figures and accessories.
The largest dealer had a huge assortment of Blue Box, Hasbro, Dragon, etc. 12" figures. He had the most traffic, too, as his display/booth took up 6 tables lined up end-to-end.
Overall, a fun experience, but G I Joe does seem to be dying off somewhat….

Hopefully if GI Joe prices are going down I can get the pieces I need for cheap. Need to finish my british commando and Japanese soldier.

Awesome; hope you can get those pieces you need. At one time, I had over 50 Joes; now down to just five. I had the Soldiers of the World German (complete) and French Resistance Fighter (complete). Got them back in the early 1990s. Was able to pick up the sealed French Resistance accessories (plentiful back then, warehouse find) for $25, but those are now long gone.

My SOTW guys are almost 100% complete, I only need the knife for the French guy, but the realistically priced ones keep getting sniped on me. I've about given up all hope on the swords for the Cadets.

You must have a pretty good collection I don't have any cadets. Most of my figures are masterpiece or 40th edition but a lot of them have vintage outfits. I sold many original figures when they were worth $50. Now I want the original boxes and figures.

I sold many original figures when they were worth $50. Now I want the original boxes and figures. I managed to build a pretty nice collection during a downward spiral in prices a few years ago. No way I could do it today, with the prices & shipping costs, along with the insane everyday living expenses. I have a lot of the repro stuff too, most of it which has never been opened due to lack of space. Not sure I'll be hanging on to that much longer...I'd rather unload it & use the money on the pieces I need to complete some vintage sets. Terry

Some of the 40th anniversary "repro" sets are very nicely done, such as the Action Pilot Rescue Raft set (I had the original as a kid). The 40th Anniversary figures are well done, too.
I purchased all five of the Adventure Team Walmart Joes for $9.99 each about 6 years ago, and I'm glad I did, as it gives my kids an inexpensive way to play with GI Joe with my original, still working headquarters (I'm missing the gas pump handle and tube).
