I remember being at Mills Fleet Farm store before it opened the Christmas season this came out in the early/mid 90's & it's been in the box since. As with the Sears Garage repro, they really genericized it as opposed to vintage. While the fort itself is still decent quality, the other pieces seem very cheaply made. The Indians have a good variety of poses, but the soldier selection is pathetic. Three riding buglers & only two riding swordsmen? C'mon, lol! Same with the rest of them. I'm not even sure the soldiers are from Marx molds, as the detail is fairly crude compared to the excellent little figures they were renowned for. There isn't much for extra accessories either, except a few basic pieces seemingly thrown in almost as an afterthought & couple horses with not enough riders. All in all, though, for the $20 I paid back then, still worth it. Terry Attachments:

I am pretty sure I have that set (Toy Street) along with 2 others from the 90s marx toys repros. The cavalry soldiers are awful. I heard they were repros of MPC figures and MPC tended to be a cheap knock-off company. The cavalry are alost two dimesional. There were being a bit lazy I think.

Lol, so I'm not imagining things with the soldiers. Yes, they are downright awful. I have a set of some really nice repro pioneers which I'll probably replace them with.

Terry: I know this is an old post, but yes, the cavalry soldiers with that "knock-off" playlet are from MPC molds. I used to have this playlet as well (sold it several years ago). The Fort Apache itself is from Marx molds, as are the red Indians and the yellow accessories, although they are molded in soft plastic, whereas the original Marx pieces were gray and dark brown hard plastic. You can find replacement cavalry from the original Marx molds from several toy soldier companies online. I recommend Hobby Bunker and/or Classic Toy Soldiers. Both carry a wide assortment of re-issue Marx figures and accessories. That's what I did originally with my set, and I kept the metallic blue Marx mold 7th cavalry. Hobby Bunker also has the Indians in red, etc.
The fort was fairly nice, but the tabs were fragile and I broke three tabs on the walls and signage just putting it together, and I don't have a heavy hand...

I did find some replacement soldiers, an extra set of Indians & also replaced the ugly yellow accessories so it looks much better now. Not sure how much longer I'll keep it though, as it's taking up a lot of space I could use for other stuff. I see the forts by themselves are going for fairly good money on Ebay lately, so I may end up parting it out.

Hope you do well if you decide to part with it on eBay. I could not literally give mine away, so I gave it to the local community outreach center. Hope it made some kid's day. Yes, the yellow soft plastic accessories were kind of cheesy. All-in-all, though, a pretty good buy for the price.

Yeah, a lot of repros are practically worthless when it comes to trying to sell them. I lost a lot of money on the repro GI Joe stuff. Wish I'd known about Ebay when I was buying it...I could've spent it on vintage.
