Thought I would start a discussion on a figure I have been working on for some time. Ever since Scott created his "49'er" hat, I have wanted to make a 1/6 prospector. This picture is of the 1/72 scale version I made for our train layout, but he has the details I intend for the larger one: wiskers, floppy hat, slightly shorter, and slightly rounder in the waist. I will add more pics. I think I only get one pic per post. Lee

I started with a CXR body and got out the magic sculpt to start rounding out the stomach. Attachments:

I tried several ways of putting the suspendors back on , but ultimatimately went back to magic sculpt combined with some very small leather peices, brass wire and glue. I used a 'pounce' wheel to put the stitching in the suspendors. Attachments:

I took both leg sections and marked out an 1/8 inch section on each and then cut that out at the band saw. I glued the legs back together after the cuts and then smoothed over with magic sculpt. I used to use the Easy Fix glue from Terri & Noah (CXR), but since they have been unable to get that, I have found something called GaleForce nine or GF9. I works very well on the Marx figures. In then end all of this meant Willy lost 1/4" from his height, so 1.5 scale inches. I also hope to have him stoop a little to make him seem shorter as well. In the pictures you see the gray legs I altered next to a set of tan legs that are the original size. Attachments:

I wanted Willy's boot to have the "mule ear" straps, so cut some small sections of leather to glue and then smooth with magic sculpt. That's all I have so far. Lee Attachments:

Looks like that should do well in the customizing contest.
I am thinking an Odin head on a cavalry body wmight make a quick and easy prospector.

Thanks everybody. In answer to Dave & Donna, I found the GF9 at a comics store -- turns out they also have hobby supplies because they have a lot of gaming enthusiasts. The sign said the glue worked on *everything* so I tried it and it does a good job, even on Johnny bodies. I did a quick Google search and you can get it on the web: www.gf9.com/store/product_reviews_info.php?products_id=266&reviews_id=61Lee
