First Cherokee Hauptling I have ever seen on Ebay outside of the German website. Item # 320639614963 Rivets look right but price seems extreme.
Has anyone ever seen a UK Jamie? Item # 260718132628 I am going to ask for better pictures. It almost looks like the body was drywashed with some pink paint.

A UK Jamie should have red hair which that one does not seem to have. Never heard that they have a pinkish body although maybe they do. I would pass on it due to the hair color.

The Chief is correct., but I agree that for a loose figure it is pretty high. Same with the Jamie. Looks legit but the picture is so bad that it's hard to judge the accuracy of the description. Lots of things can affect the color of the body. was it laying on a widow shelf and faded - what's the back look like?, did he pull the joints out to see if the internal color is the same? When asking this much for a figure the seller should take a little more time and much better pics....I'm going to pass.

Hi Mitch,
I'm back again from the sea! The Hauptling is legit, no doubt. And the seller is KEVMARX....I know for a fact that he has at least one of them. Here is my sad story about how I have that knowledge --- A few months back I was watching an elusive Hauptling that was for sale as a "buy it now" in the Neatherlands. There was also a Johnny that REALLY looked like he was blue eyed in the lot.......I'm almost sure of it!!! I was super excited, and planned on buying it on the last day of the auction! (what the heck was I thinking about by not pulling the trigger right away??) Anyway, someone bought it out from under me a few days before the auction ended....it was KEVMARX. Needless to say, I learned my lesson.......the next time I see a "must have" BIN item, someone is gonna have to chase me off with a stick to keep me from hitting the Buy button!
As for the price, I think it is a good starting price (if anyone with a mint loose Hauptling disagrees, then please let me know, and I'll buy yours for 200 bucks). Someone bid me up to 255 dollars on the one I bought from the Netherlands a couple of years ago. But.....I am biased....I am into the European figures because they are harder to find and acquire :-) . It is kind of weird seeing this one for sale today, because I just bought a Chief yesterday from Germany that looks like he could be legit....maybe..... Check out ebay item number 170492219711 and let me know what you think. The figure color looks right....open hands...the hair paint is on solid (the German plastic seems to hold it better).....the face seems right......made in USA stamp, the seller says......looks like a semi hard plastic breastplate.....what I can see of the rivets seem unpainted (though my Hauptling has Spanish style rivets!?!?). But the dang eyes look black to me in the picture! Ohh well, it's worth a hundred bucks to know for sure....lol!
I have to agree with Scott on the UK Jamie. Pink doesn't seem to make sense. Either there is sun damage, or somebody at the factory mixed the color pills wrong (I have seen a number of US Palomino Comanches with off colored legs). There is a Jamie up for auction right now on ebay UK.... check out item number 170585783752 . He is the same color as the JW. For my money, the best figure in that auction is the Pony....he/she has the black UK hoofs that sets it apart from the US and Canadian counterparts.
Later, Buddy B.

Thanks for the insight folks. I am going to have to look at the Best of the West site again as I didn't realize the UK Jamies were different from the US. Ahh, at least one more for the list! :^) Say Tom how about a UK or European module? I have never looked on Neatherlands Ebay as I got my Hauptling and Viebroflex Johnny off the German site last year. I was a little bit ill at ease regarding the price, a shade over $300 including shipping, but with what you just posted Buddy it sounds like I got a steal since they both were boxed with paperwork and accessories.

I looked at the English auction and its hard to tell what color Jamies hair is due to the hat. Once again I didn't realize the UK Panchos had black hooves so at least two more for the list! :^) Now to go look at Buddys Chief!

I agree Buddy the eyes look black and without a closeup of the rivets I wouldn't venture a guess. The ones on my Chief are twins to the ones on Scotts site. Does anyone know how or if we can post photos? I miss being able to do that from the old site.

You got an awesome deal with both boxed figures for 300 bucks!!! I would put them at the top of my Holy Grail list! I have been gone off and on for quite a while, and didn't know know you made that find.....Congrats!
You are right, Tom needs to do a European module! There are a lot of figures out there that we don't know much about. I shop there a good bit, and I am still learning. I bought a Chief from Spain last year (another one of my "just doesn't look right, but for a few bucks I will check him out" purchases). I got him in, and he looked to have a Spanish (just like US) head, but a UK body. Odd, but I marked it down as a hybrid that someone put together (but why did that body end up in Spain....and why did they sell him for 20 bucks after that trouble?). I asked a few questions about it, and Bruno said that he had run into that before, and was pretty sure that it was a first issue Spanish Chief! His guess is that they started production in Spain with the UK bodies. Of course, it is useless for resell (anyone can stick a US head on a UK body and call it Spanish!) but nice for my collection, because I know where it came from!
Are you aware that the UK JWs hips are a good bit narrower than the US or Canadian versions (which are also not the same size). And the hair is more red tinged... I can't tell that much of a difference...... but my eyes are old.....lol. I was also told by a collector from England that the best way to tell the UK Johnnys from the Johntys was that Johnny has the GB Marx stamp, and Johnty has a blank circle on his back. I can't say that is Gospel, but the few that have crossed through my hands have reaffirmed that.
We need that European module from Tom!

Hello to all. My name Carloalberto, I live in Italy, stage designer and a small collector of JW. I met Scott in recent months because I asked him a few tips. It 'a very nice person. On December next inaugurate an exhibition on toy POP 1956-1974 (20 years of dream pop told through toys) and will be displaying some of my collection of items JW. I will ship a copy of the catalog to Scott where there will be photos of various stands. I also wanted to inform you that I have two "Fighting Eagle" Spanish without accessories and a "Cherokee Häuptling" with many accessories that I could sell. Before putting them on auction on Ebay I wanted to inform. If you are interested in a possible purchase write that will send all the photos. Hello again to all.
