I am just back from the old Ranch site on Yahoo.
Honestly, I don't understand why everybody hate it so much. It had a new design and news colours but it still works really well.
The new messages are there on the home page just like before.
You simply have to click on Messages to see them all, to reply or create a new messages just like before.
When we click on Photos we get to see all the recently posted pictures and we can access the photo albums by clicking on Albums just like before.
I don't know why it doesn't seem to work for everybody.
Bruno.

Bruno, for me it just froze up my computer completely. Don't know why, but it did. I'm not much for change, but I had to make this one.

Bruno -
I don't disagree with you. However, I find the new Yahoo unpalatable because it completely froze up my system and when it finally unfroze, I had a raft of Trojan Horse viruses on my laptop which have almost wiped it out.
As of this morning, I couldn't access the internet at all through Firefox, Chrome, or IE on my laptop. I have entire software modules missing or inaccessible. I am going to probably have to do a complete purge and reinstall.
I believe Yahoo left a security door open during the ill-planned roll-out of this "new and improved" system and let in some evildoers. Right now, the last two message on the Ranch site are spam delivered via a hacked Yahoo email account and I can't find the functionality I need to delete them.
I firmly believe Yahoo is going to run the group function into the ground and make it impossible for groups to maintain and grow. On the moderator blog, the uproar is deafening and Yahoo's silence is equally deafening.
I refer to the new Yahoo as "Fakebook."
Yes, the service has been free. However, in exchange for a place to chat, we've all let Yahoo scrape our emails and personal information for years. At least, in exchange, they could have left us alone or added change in small increments.
This ill-advised change hurt a lot of people who have put a lot of work into groups. Yahoo has fed for years off the page hits that the groups brought to their site as well as the information Yahoo has scraped and no doubt sold. Their disregard of their customers is stunning.
Also, I used to get a lot of surveys from Yahoo. I believe the service won't be free for much longer.
I'm glad it is working for you. I hope the Yahoo version of the Ranch continues to operate and thrive. However, I firmly advise you to keep your security screens up to date.
If I didn't have some pretty handy computer survival skills and some pretty robust scanning software already installed, I would have suffered a total loss on my laptop, including 2000+ photos which included all of the files for the coloring book. I am not a fan of Yahoo right now, at all.
Terri

I had no problem with the new yahoo site, but I still didn't like it. This site is a lot better. Brian C

The main reason i hate yahoo is the arrogance. They have a product which is obviously very defective. For me it only worked with firefox. My poor old computer is lucky to get away alive from it.
