On the Subject of the Lone Ranger Filmation cartoon, my dad always told me that William Conrad voiced the Lone Ranger. But in the credits it says 'J. Darnoc as the Lone Ranger'. I finally looked up J. Darnoc and all of the results were for William Conrad and then I realized that Darnoc spelled backwards is Conrad. Does anyone know the reason for the name Darnoc in the credits?

Hey Grayson
Interesting Fun Fact there.
My Guess is there was probably some kind of a legality maybe he had some sort of contract with another Company about Using the Name " Conrad " as he has many items credited that same year.
I never realized it was his voice narrating HUDSON HAWK one of our Favorite Movies.

Does anyone know the reason for the name Darnoc in the credits? Not unusual for actors/authors to have other names/pen names, especially if writing and/or acting in formats not the "norm." Conrad was also the Lone Ranger show's narrator as well. It is a fine series; unfortunately it is now out-of-print, last released in 2007-2008 as part of the Zorro/Lone Ranger Filmation Adventure series. Two DVDs were released and can command good prices on the secondary market. The third installment, Tarzan, of the Filmation Zorro/Lone Ranger/Tarzan Adventure Hour on Saturday mornings has never officially been released to DVD because the Edgar Rice Burroughs estate owns the rights. Zorro was just re-released last year on one DVD with all 13 episodes complete and intact. I have reviewed the release on amazon.com. It is quite good and highly recommended, if you are a Zorro or Henry Darrow fan. Dave, I'm sure you know that Conrad was also the original Matt Dillon on the radio Gunsmoke from 1952-61. I actually think the radio version superior to the television version, which aired from 1955-75. Unfortunately, the radio cast was not really considered to play their roles in the television version. Conrad's weight and short stature was against what the producers thought Matt Dillon should look like, so they cast James Arness in the role. Howard McNear (Floyd the Barber on the Andy Griffith Show) played the part of the radio Doc Adams....

Well I got the movie at a LargeStore for 12.96 after 3 tries. 2 on my own and the third with an employee, his laptop, handheld and an Ipad under his counter. LoL. It is a great Modern Western for sure!! I was laughing hard then realized the movie hadn't really started yet. Great shots of the West at that time!! Like the buffalo herd and the train & more. WOW!! Really brutal killing of John Reid's brother but that is what started it all anyway. Tonto is talented. Reid himself.. well all Legends have to start someplace. He really wants to uphold the law. Thought the original story was carried on very well through-out the movie. The real Rangers probably like it. All in all.. A Keeper. Nance
