It's an actual Marx figure called Buddy Charlie. Just like G.I. Joe, he came in the 4 service branches...Army, Navy, Air force & Marine. Except for the Marine, the uniforms are hard to distinguish from Joe's without looking at the inside tags. He even came with a dogtag similar to Joe. His equipment is the same as Stoney Smith. The seller is a bit out of touch with reality though...even a boxed complete one doesn't fetch anywhere near that price.

Yeah, $40 would be more like it.

Wow. I had no idea about BUDDY CHARLIE.
(I stand corrected.)
Still . . . the starting price is absurd!

Still more than I'd pay. Someone might bite though. It does appear to be in nice condition.

I'd have been surprised if it had sold for that much, especially without the uniform. They're cool pieces of Marx history, but really not worth too much. I got the soldier for $25 & a really nice foreign version sailor for $45 which included shipping from Australia. Here's a comparison. Note the brass rivets & different head paint on the foreign one. So far, I've been unable to find any info on his origin. Terry Attachments:

Hey Terry, I never saw the Aussie BC before! Very nice. Looks like they reversed the rivets sometimes... Now I wonder if they did a different box for this guy? !!!!!!!!! Scott

Hey Scott, the "reversed rivets" is actually what I believe to be a factory mistake. He has two left biceps. The reason I think that is the like new condition of the figure...it looks to have been made that way & not a later repair job. Like I said, I've been unable to find any info on this guy at all...if he was even made in Australia or came from somewhere else. Had I been thinking at the time, I'd have asked the seller, he may have known the story. Much too late now, lol.
