Any rancher get this? I was in the process of paying with paypal but somebody was just a hair faster. I have never seen a red, white, and blue one. That will teach me to ebay and watch John Wayne at the same time! LOL

If it is any consolation, I am not entirely sure that it is/was an official colour variation produced by the original Marx company . . . but is/was a later knock-off/imitation (from Mexico?).
Perhaps someone more expert on this subject may be able to chime in here.

It's not in spanish so I am thinking not plastimarx. Looks authentic whatever it is and probably an excellent buy. Aside from the graphics it is like the Johnny West footlocker which has been on ebay forever. Made by the American Metal Box Co.

I looked it over to see if it had been customized and then checked Scotts site and then missed by less than a minute! I have been slow on the draw the last few items I have hoped to buy. Must be getting old! LOL

So, technically - if I understand Stewart's website correctly - this locker was not MADE by the Marx Company 'proper' but the American Metal Company was "hired" by Marx to manufacture the item. Or, perhaps, not hired but simply given licensing permission to use the Johnny West brand. (Or, was AMC owned by Marx?) Still not really clear to me if these lockers were MADE by THE Marx Co. - from the same factories which produced the original figures and their accessories.

You're right JW. The American Metal Company (still in business BTW) was just a licensee from Marx for these footlockers. I'll be adding this Red, White and Blue one to my site. So Marx Toys did not make them, they just allowed the other company to use the Marx names. Scott

Thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated.
P.S. As you can read in my other thread about eBay, I have not had a banner week. It is refreshing to see that you are a conscientious Collector/Seller.
