The other week I found a BIN auction for a Daniel Boone with a broken left arm and several accessories both soft and hard. The price was only $10 plus shipping, the problem was I knew that the weather might get cold soon and it's not safe to ship these figures when it's cold. But for $10 I couldn't resist, I also knew that if I didn't buy it someone else would grab it up quick for that price. I bought it and sure enough shortly after the weather got cold. Last night I came home from work and found my package waiting on the front step. I brought it inside and wondered if Ol Daniel had survived the trip. I opened it up and sure enough his left foot had broken off. Not such a big deal I thought I just removed his head and tossed his body into the garbage. I then looked at all the accessories I had and said to myself this was worth the money I spent. The problem is that today I feel guilty about buying the figure. I feel like I killed poor Daniel myself. OH NO!!!! Now I'm a Daniel Boone Murderer! I just thought I would tell this story as a reminder to what can happen to caramel coloured figures when shipped in cold weather. Maybe they should pass a law against selling these guys when it's cold out :-) Brian C

I used to sell a lot of accessories for $10 each. Some like the bullet mold I sold for more. Someone may want Daniel's remains and he may live again.

After a couple packaging jobs I've received, I'd never buy another caramel figure through the mail at all. Dan'l isn't truly dead though, unless he remains in the trash. He could be customized or one could be made from two.

Unfortunately Daniel's body sat outside in the garbage can for a couple of nights where it deteriorated more from the cold. I guess I really am a DB killer. I have another DB body which suffered from the effects of the cold, it has small pieces broken off around the neck, if anyone wants it for customizing or repair let me know and I'll send it to you in warmer temperatures. As far as what I did get from the auction, I've cleaned up Daniels head and put it on a Maddox body and dressed him up with the accessories. If I didn't buy Daniel I wouldn't have the cool accessories and such, just such a shame to have to ruin the body getting him here. The funny thing is that his right arm survived the journey unbroken with no cracks, the arms are usually the first thing to break on these guys. Brian C

I could use a right arm. Perhaps we shall see in the spring.
