Is this thread dead? before my reply on 3/10 of this year, the last reply was in 2011? Admins?
I have compiled the story up to date, with just a few edits for grammar and insertions of word [brackets] for clarity. Hopefully this will spark renewed interest. Not a bad story at all so far when read in its entirety:
Johnny West stood up and dusted off his hat [and] said, "What a wonderful day to go to the Grand Canyon!" With that, he mounted up and hollered, "Ya, Thunderbolt, ride!" But Thunderbolt refused to move. Commanche whinnied and reared up, and even Pancho and Thundercolt… Something had them spooked, bad! Could it be..a Cobra? Or was it something else? Glancing around, Johnny noticed a shadow in the mesquite…Cobra was NOT a snake. The glint of metal was; but a man in black, whose name was not Cash, stepped out of the shadows. Lightning flashed on the horizon, thunder boomed in the canyon, spurs jingled in the dust, and a mournful wind tore at a black cravat. Danger was not far away. Actually, danger was very close, close enough to hear the sound of a buckle derringer, and the stranger's racing heartbeat seemed inches away from Johnny (looking to find a posse!). Suddenly, Thunderbolt snorted and shouts… Johnny drew his pistol quickly! A deafening shot rang out and heard throughout the canyon was Cobra's pain-filled cry of death..dead as a doornail. Johnny ambled over and looked and was amazed to discover a steel plate in Sam's vest covered in strange markings which had stopped Johnny's bullet. Sam reached out and grabbed the plate with a snarl. "At last, we meet again!" Sam kept to his feet and drew his throwing knife. Johnny went for his gun, but Sam was too quick! Sam's knife was already headed straight at Johnny's marshall star! What will our hero do? He stared into Cobra's eyes, reached for his branding iron, and in one fell swoop, swatted the knife away. Then Sam pulled a derringer and pointed it at Johnny, but Johnny was already moving for the cover of the distant bluff in the canyon, but [he] tripped over the knife engraved with the letters "FE." But the fearsome outlaw Sam who dropped it while searching looked to find a match and saw a black-and-white Pinto. Could Geronimo be close by?
Did they live happily ever after?
Until a gunshot sounded nearby and hoofbeats thundered his way, bringing trouble in their path.
